I'm researching about Wichita, we might move there.
Do you like it? Is it kid-friendly? What don't you like?

:)

I have lived in Wichita almost my whole life. Besides having a traveling spirit and wanting to leave to explore, yes I love it. It is one of the most cost effective places to live, cheapest housing in the country. It is very kid friendly, LOTS of places to take kids, inside and out. There are many different types of activities for children ranging from kid museums to childrens theaters, to really great parks and a fabulous zoo.

The school system here, in my opinion, is really great. Of course it has it's problems like all schools do, but I really like a lot of the programs they have set up. There is a lot of available opportunity for kids of any background. They try to keep schools mixed equally racially. They have the IB program in the school system too, and in HS they can also earn college credit for their classes.

Wichita has a pretty low crime rate. The stats you find on the web are pretty accurate. Though in the 23 years that I have lived here, I've never experienced any crimes. Basically if you stay out of the worse off neighborhoods and areas, you're fine.

The only thing I dont like is there is no ocean here. I'm a beach lover, but born in the wrong area for that lol!

Thank you for a great response! That is basically the "feel" I got from the beginnings of my research. Of course, living in Tucson makes anywhere look like paradise because our crime is through the roof. I was trying not to be biased, thinking the grass was greener. At any rate, things look good and if we move to Wichita I'll be joining this community pronto! ;)
